I bet that will look fantastic, looking forward to seeing finished pictures!
Thanks,
Jason
jbParticipantIt’s doing it again. I wonder what causes this?
jbParticipantSeems like the problem has been fixed.
jbParticipant@hinterland I seem to remember having a similar problem but I don’t think it was quite an inch too big. I think I had to tip one side into the correct position and then lower the other and it was still a little too wide. I may have taken up to 1/8 inch off each side in some places. I’ll check my photos and notes to see if I remember any more.

Let that set then sand down all the squeeze out. If there are any large gaps remaining, I’d fill those with thickened epoxy then sand down. And to make sure it doesn’t happen again, I’d apply a fiberglass strip as is currently recommended but I’d probably double up with two layers and maybe even go with a wider strip cut from a sheet (not just the 3 inch tape) to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The base model for the camper sells new from CLC for $19,795 (https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/recreational-vehicles/new-assembled-teardrop-camper.html). That doesn’t include basic electrical (+$1,129).
I don’t know the market price for one built from a kit or sold used. I’m sure someone else here has bought or sold one.
November 5, 2021 at 12:47 pm in reply to: CLC Camper shelf repair needed in Raleigh/Durham area #3992jbParticipant@savageml, that weak point has been a problem in the past for others. The current kit instructions mention that the battery caused this failure in a past design so the recommendation is to wrap fiberglass tape around that corner on the interior of the camper.
Good luck!

jbParticipantDeepwoods, I’m just a little bit ahead of you on the galley shelf. I wouldn’t varnish for the reasons you mentioned: the fillets may not stick well. Also, unless you are REALLY good at making perfectly clean fillets, you’ll probably end up having to sand the fillets and surrounding area again anyway.
Cell-o-fill is the correct thickener for these fillets. I don’t know why the manual changed from wood flour. For me, the fillets with Cell-o-fill seemed smoother, less chunky than the wood flour. Maybe wood flour is better for larger structural fillets? You will of course need to add a lot more Cell-o-fill for fillets than when you mixed just for sandwiching between pieces of wood.
jbParticipantIf you could get your hands on a key blank, you or a locksmith could probably easily make a functioning key with a picture of an original and a file.
jbParticipantI think if you left the galley hatch uncut and did some reinforcement of the galley flat and bulkhead (the partition between main cabin and galley), your idea would be plenty sturdy for the use you described. You might want to avoid any kind of roof rack because the load bearing of the roof may be somewhat reduced. I don’t think I’d completely remove the bulkhead but would instead cut an arch similar to the bulkhead arch that is below the galley flat and shelf.
jbParticipantOK, I guess that when a spam user account is deleted the posts remain but get assigned to “Anonymous”. The last locksmith post was by JustinWinslow (http://teardropforum.com/forums/users/justinwinslow) but that account no longer exists. Thanks to whomever cleaned it up!
jbParticipantThese recent posts about a locksmith look like commercial bot spam to me. Two separate individuals linking to the same locksmith web site and one of the accounts is somehow Anonymous and “inactive”. Not sure how to get the attention of a mod or admin to look into this.
jbParticipantThanks to your warnings, I installed the shelf first. Today I installed the sills and had to file a bit (maybe 1/8″) of the fiddle on the left side to get the sill to fit right.
jbParticipant@Youngjedi I’ve had the same problem but it only sticks at the bottom so when I push down my standard process is to immediately lift when it hits bottom then it continues up and is ready for the next pump by the time I’ve dispensed red. Are you still on your first set of pumps? CLC shipped me two sets with the kit and I swapped them after going through about 1.5 gallons or more. You can also order a new set from CLC ($13) if disassembly and cleaning doesn’t do the trick.
