I was a bit impatient when doing the contact cement – didn’t let it dry enough so actually, it never had that instant bonding. Instead, I use a heat gun to heat up both surfaces to dry the contact cement. I still had 3-4 seconds to move the pieces around if the initial alignment wasn’t perfect.
for rounding over the edges, I used sandpaper and hand sanded the edge. worked well enough.
I’m really glad I bought the headliner.. looks great and does a great job of eliminating condensation…we went camping and there was quite a bit of condensation on the window but none on the headliner material.
tomtntParticipantdo you think the will take my used, previously glued, previously painted fan back?? =)
seriously though – it was their mistake.. shouldn’t have shipped those high profile fans out in the first place.
tomtntParticipanti think I used either 3-4 quarts.. I put on 4 layers in most areas…. I’ve lost track of all the little things I’ve spent money on! I ended up buying the varnish locally at the west marine store…
with the clear coat, do you still need the varnish for color/UV protection or just the clear coat?
I’m going to be so sad the first time I take this thing on the road and get a rock ding on the finish… I can’t believe CLC has over 10K miles on their demo unit? looks great! anyone notice any major road rashes up close?

tomtntParticipanttomtntParticipanttomtntParticipanttomtntParticipantouch… I really appreciate the headliner.. if i were more skilled, i would have built my own galley…. the box is a tough pill to swallow at $425+shipping… wonder if that is due for a price hike as well….
tomtntParticipantgood to hear about the vent fan issue but tough luck for those who have already purchased/installed!
For electrical, I have 2 lights in the cabin, vent, 1 small fan controlled with a bank of 4 switches. I also have USB/12v cigarette adapter. I tried to go minimal – I didn’t really like the overly cluttered look of the CLC demo unit..
In the galley area, I have a voltage monitor, usb adapter, 12v cig. Still trying to decide on lighting. trying to figure out what the light the CLC demo unit uses- looks like a 12inch modern loooking lightbar.
I didn’t bother installing speakers. I much prefer portable sound system like an Alexa Tap.
tomtntParticipanti also have problem 2 that you described due to the sealing foam material: the lower forward corner bows out.. but only on 1 door.. other door lines up pretty well… I did not use the strap material on the inside – didn’t like the look and didn’t think it would help with this particular problem.
tomtntParticipanti had to shave my door… looks nice though, I really like the eyebrow
tomtntParticipant“oops”… drilling new holes now.. lol
tomtntParticipantcontacted CLC and they offered to send replacement rods. great service! Make sure you cut longer than necessary.. no need to be exact on this step…
tomtntParticipantwell, there’s also the problem that the vent with the high profile base is too high if you ever intend to install the roof racks…
tomtntParticipantshould have taken your advice… that was painful trying to glass the 2 large sheet…. wasted a lot of epoxy too…
