I am keen to know how did you get on? Would be great to see any photos. I have started sanding back the epoxy after only 2 coats to fill the weave. I am getting some orange peel in places but not an excessive amount. Noting I only have 2 layers of epoxy between the cloth and the sander I am reluctant to obsess on the areas of orange peel.
Jaus10ParticipantReferenced elsewhere in this forum but worth a dedicated mention and image. A cheap soldering iron and a pliers will allow you to remove copper stitches hassle free once the fillet has cured, so you can fillet with stitches in place! I ran out of the accelerator for the CA glue early in the project this worked a treat as an alternative, especially where there is a bit of tension at the joins.
Jaus10ParticipantThanks for the heads up, looks like I was on a similar path. Managed to catch it during the “insert the galley flat stage” – I put a small fillet down the horizontal brace so it could take the lateral load of the clamp. Also managed to thread some copper wires (entombed in the fillet) to try and close the gap between the panel and the galley flat.

Nothing came close so I settled with just using West System 406 which cures to an off-white colour shown under epoxy and fibreglass tape. It is not a match to the wood but doesn’t look too horrific.
