After using the camper for a while I noticed a powdery buildup on the hinges:

Powdery Buildup on HingesThis is obviously varnish residue.  Eventually there will be no more UV protection there and even the epoxy could be worn off.

My solution is to apply sliding lubricant to the hinges.  I also applied some to the hinge pins."SlipIt Lubricant

The compound will have to be re-applied from time-to-time, especially after driving through a hard rain.

In retrospect, I should have planned for nylon washers at these wear points.

Nyl0n washers would be good, but I think stainless steel flat washers might work a little better.  More “slippery” and might last longer.  As for my hinges, though, they are too tight to slip one in there.
