With the Northern Tool 5×8 trailer unavailable for the last year, has anybody tried welding up their own frame? I have no welding experience but will try to learn and if I can, will try making my own 76″ x 60″ trailer. Overland Trailer has a free, sample plan and I bought a plan from mechanicalElements.com. I will use 2″x2″ square tubing with a sheet metal gusset in the corners.
With a Dexter axle and 13″ wheels on it, highway speeds should not be a problem.
Has anybody had success doing this? Any advice?
