This summer I had my teardrop camper sitting in my driveway when a freak wind storm came through, blew off the tops of a couple trees and one ended up crushing the back end of my camper. Luckily, I live in “rat infested” Baltimore so I was able to take the camper to Annapolis where CLC has been great at fashioning me some new panels and galley cover to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Thank you Ed and Andrew. I thought I was done with epoxy, sanding and varnishing–but a small price to pay for saving my camper. The problem is that under my homeowners policy only a portion of the repair was covered. The insurance company said that I would have needed a rider that specifically covered the camper. Okay, but when I now have tried to get that rider, my agent cannot find a company to provide it. I read a previous thread from last summer that discussed this issue. One person mentioned getting a policy through Hartford. I will definitely check on this, but I was wondering if anyone else has been able to get coverage. If yes, through which company? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I don’t have any input, but I was following the repair- really glad they got you fixed up, it looks really good!
I insured mine as a “trailer” through my auto insurance agent. I told him what it was and I declared a replacement value as a basis for the premium amount. I don’t remember what the additional premium was but it was nominal.
We also insured ours through our auto policy as an RV. At the time, CLC had a new one for sale at $18k. We used that as the declared value. I am sure they would depreciate it if they ever needed to pay out.
If it was stored at home and damaged, it may be covered as personal property on your homeowners insurance.

Can you share the name of your insurance company? My Homeowner’s had a $3000 limit on coverage for RVs.
I use Cincinnati Insurance Co., but I think they are a local/regional firm so you may not find an agent depending on where you live.

I bought AAA RV insurance (it’s through Geico). It covers the cost of the camper and gear (like the lithium battery and solar cells, sleeping bags, cookware, etc.) that’s in the camper at the time of the accident up to a pre-agreed on amount.
While I was at it, I upgraded my AAA plan to include road service and towing for the camper, as well as our vehicles.
