That looks amazing friz. Solid work. What did you use to adhere the foam insulation to the camper?

The more I research varnishing and look at posts and videos I think I will go ahead with varnishing myself. I will likely have to thin the varnish (I plan to use schooner as recommended) so that I have more time to work with it. I suppose I could start with an interior piece to practice

This was all over the phone so perhaps they were quoting high to be safe. I don’t have the trailer completed yet but I am hoping to be close over the next couple weeks. I kept repeating on the phone that I would do practically all of the prep work (sanding mainly). Not much would need to be masked, maybe just the trailer when I bring it in.

I did call a MAACO and they wanted to see the camper before committing to the project. The first MAACO I called said they don’t do things like that. Interesting how they have different policies.

What are your finishing plans Green Ninja? I see you are around where I am based on your recent posts.

I like the idea with the rigid foam. I thought about doing that initially but was concerned it would snap before making the curve. I ended up buying the CLC headliner and plan to cover it with some material as you did. If i saw this before I may have ended up going the route you did friz. Looking good so far.

I had a similar issue recently with harbor freight and northern tool. I couldn’t find any information on when the trailers at harbor freight would be sold again. I ended up finding a custom built trailer that a welder was trying to sell because he lost the buyer. I ended paying about the same as a northern tool trailer. I found it on my local craigslist/offerup.

Originally I was planning on buying a used utility trailer and fixing it up myself. However even the “low priced” ones were much more than I wanted to pay for a heavily used trailer. If I were to look again I would probably look around boat yards for an older boat trailer. It seems like a few people have had success converting those to a suitable trailer and I feel like I see more abandoned boat trailers than any other type. Good luck.
